Pre-1960s cars exempt from MOTs

From 18th November 2012 cars built before 1960 no longer have to pass an annual MoT, although owners can still undertake a voluntary test.

There has been much debate about this issue, with road safety campaigners concerned that dropping MoT tests for classic cars may result in more accidents. Transport minister Mr Penning argued however that classic car owners were committed to maintaining their cars to the highest standards:

"Owners of classic cars and motorbikes tend to be enthusiasts who maintain their vehicles well - they don't need to be told to look after them, they're out there in all weathers checking the condition of the engine, tyres and bodywork," http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18146326

To provide owners with peace of mind and to ensure cars are kept healthy and in the best possible condition we can offer an annual road worthiness check, which can be combined with a routine service. Email enquiries@fiennes.co.uk, or call us on 01367810438 for more information.
