Fiennes Restoration Today

Vehicle conservation and restoration is the core business of Fiennes Restoration, with the focus on pre-war Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Currently there is a staff of twenty four; as well as highly skilled craftsmen and engineers we also employ two trainees. We believe it is important that the skills that were commonplace half a century ago are passed on and do not die.

Inevitably there is an overlapping of skills, but our core activities cover three main areas of vehicle restoration :

1 Mechanical restoration
2 Coachbuilding
3 Parts manufacture

Our policy is to undertake as much of the work in-house that is practical. We believe that by doing so we are able to maintain better control of the quality standards that we aim to achieve. Our policy is one of continual improvement, and investment in modern technology is one aspect of this. To this end we are continuing to expand our Machine Shop capacity with the acquisition of a growing range of CNC machine tools. Our first CNC milling machine is now over 18 years old, still earning its keep having just received an upgrade!

Our speciality covers all the vehicles produced by the Rolls-Royce factory prior to 1940, from Silver Ghost to Wraith. By being so focussed we are able to "get under the skin" of the Rolls-Royce design, and this helps to give us an added insight in to the cars. However, a day never passes when we do not learn something new about Rolls-Royce. A truism it may be, but the more we know about Rolls-Royce the more we realise how much more there is to learn.
